Position Title:Lab Supervisor - Virology

Department:Pathology Lab

Job Description:

General Description:

Under general direction supervises and coordinates the day-to-day operation of the laboratory department.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Directs campus wide department activities of a laboratory section with an emphasis on operational functions as needed for quality care
  • Recruits, manages, and evaluates personnel in the department
  • Manages equipment, materials, and supplies required in the section
  • Reports to Manager and performs duties delegated by Manager
  • Works at the bench when needed
  • Special Requirement: Some positions may require approval in accordance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) guidelines for unescorted access to radioactive materials.

General Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in biological science or medical technology OR qualifies as a Clinical Lab Scientist II, Cytotechnologist or Histotechnologist II

Experience: Five (5) years experience in a clinical laboratory setting.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: none.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of supervisory functions such as ability to solve client problems, performance improvement tools, etc. Computer literate. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must able to prioritize and manage several tasks at one time.
