Neurosciences is a 29-bed unit located on the 3rd floor of the South Tower at OU Health. Of the 29 beds, 9 beds are stepdown/progressive care and 20 are floor beds. We provide the highest level of Neurological care as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, as designated by The Joint Commission.
Resident RN:

The OU Health Nurse Residency Program provides the graduate nurse withresources and rich experiences that will serve as a strong foundation for asuccessful nursing career. OU Health nurse residents receive guidance and supportfrom a primary preceptor and clinical education specialist to successfully bridge thetransition from student to professional practice. The program features ongoingstructured learning opportunities for residents, a strong social support network,mentoring and preparation to obtain national certification in their chosen specialtyarea. Candidates must have a current RN license or compact RN license to practicein Oklahoma prior to beginning the program and have less than one year of RNclinical experience to be eligible to enroll in our Nurse Residency Program.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program preferred.
Experience: N/A
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC). Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. ACLS (American Heart Association) required if caring for Step Down patients.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques. Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills.
