Job Description
What this job involves - The Chief Engineer will perform annual preventive maintenance and repair services on chiller systems within a designated geographic territory. This position has a strong focus on operations, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all facility equipment and systems in scope. As the lead, the position has primary responsibility for communication to other operating engineers and maintenance staff as well as site management regarding performance status, issues, and needs with the goal to provide strong client service. The role often takes a hands-on approach in operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, BMS, critical power equipment i.e., UPS, ATS, Generators and managing vendors.

What is your day to day?
Perform annual and semi-annual preventive maintenance and repair service work on water cooled and air cooled chiller systems including cooling towers and pumps.
Diagnose and repair all HVAC systems in a geographical area.
Provide technical assistance and support to various work teams within a geographic region in order to increase the skills and capabilities of team members
Conduct building evaluations and make recommendations so operational improvements can be incorporated
Complete hands on repairs and maintenance on a variety of chiller manufacturers, cooling towers, pumps, motors, and HVAC systems using industry standard tools and in accordance with all codes, laws, and regulations

Physical Work Requirements & Conditions
Lifting up to 80 lbs.
Working from heights.
Frequently climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, and working/extending overhead.
Working in adverse conditions (i.e., extreme cold, extreme hot).
Driving for long periods of time.
Climbing a ladder with a 300 lb weight limit while carrying a tool bag weighing approximately 20 lbs.
Climbing a ladder up to 30 feet.

Desired experience and technical skills
Required
Minimum of 10 years' experience in commercial HVAC service and repairs with a focus on hands-on chiller repair & maintenance
Successful completion of vocation degree program, apprenticeship, and/or comparable work experience.
Possess Universal EPA Certification
Possess knowledge of codes, laws, and regulations affecting commercial real estate operations with the ability to articulate any deficiencies and make recommendations to remedy such deficiencies

Preferred
Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration and HVAC, plumbing or other craft skills, preferred
