Position Summary

Family Expectations, a healthy relationship and parenting education program, is designed for couples that are currently pregnant or who recently had a baby. The program is research informed, aligned with best practices, and is engaged in a rigorous evaluation lead by some of the most respected human services researchers in the country today. The Family Support Coach will contribute to Public Strategies mission of helping systems, organizations and individuals reach their full potential while maximizing the public good and by building and fostering strong foundational relationships with community service providers and others committed to making a significant, measurable, and sustainable difference.

The Family Support Coach (FSC) supports the working alliance between the Family Support (Case Management) and Education Services teams. The FSC monitors and facilitates workshop completion and provides individualized and group support to couples enrolled in the Family Expectations (FE) program through reminder phone calls, consistent assessment and follow up of couple's relationship challenges and immediate needs, building couples' capacity to deploy a range of skills to improve family life, and supporting couples in meaningful behavior change that has a positive impact on both their relationship and their children. The FSC will provide case management, reinforce key concepts from the curriculum, and connect couples with community resources in group and individual settingswith an emphasis on employment development and mental health services.

Qualifications

Essential Job Functions

  • Workshop attendance: Identify and address barriers that may hinder couples' participation in the program, actively promoting and encouraging workshop attendance.
  • Rapport building: Develop relationships that keep couples engaged in the program especially through phone, text, email messages, coaching sessions, and while couples are onsite before workshops.
  • Caseload Management: Maintain an 80% key performance indicator for caseload-workshop completion, ensuring timely progress tracking and supporting couples in achieving program milestones.
  • Offer individualized and group assistance and support by assessing couples' needs through case management principles and best practices.
  • Ensure couples are building competency in the skills taught in the curriculum during outreach and follow-up contacts, as well as during coaching sessions and/or workshops.
  • Program Review: Meet regularly with the Family Support Manager to review couples' program participation, assess progress, and collaborate on strategies for additional support.
  • Community Resource Referral: Facilitate couples' access to employment and mental health services by connecting them with relevant program partner resources.
  • Maintain case notes and files within established protocols in the Data Management System (DMS) and other files and database systems that are established.
  • Policy and Procedure Compliance: Adhere to program policies and procedures, ensuring consistent implementation and maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake any other duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of the Family Expectations program.

Education/Training

  • Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Studies, Psychology or equivalent, required
  • Four years of equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of education

Experience

  • One year experience in social services and knowledge of community resources, particularly in areas related to employment and mental health, to facilitate appropriate referrals.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Oral and written fluency in English and Spanish, required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weeknights and Saturdays (at least one evening per week and one Saturday per month)
  • Multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
